Smart meters will benefit all of us. They help us manage how we use energy in the home and will contribute to making our networks ever so smart. It's why we put 'becoming smart ready' as one of our key milestones early on in the Rebel journey.
The option to have a smart meter is there, from when you first become part of Rebel. We completed our first install in November 2021 and we are looking to power on with our installation program this year - we are fully supportive of the Government's strategy in getting every home a smart meter.
Every year, energy suppliers are set a smart meter installation target by the UK government. In 2023, Rebel had a target of installing 1,217 smart meters. We managed to install a total of 3,638 smart meters into our customer's properties, broken down below:
