Each time a computer or TV is left on standby it costs around 2p per hour, which equates to 48p a day, £3.36 per week, and £174.72 per year. Almost all electrical and electronic appliances can be turned off at the plug without upsetting their programming. You may want to consider getting a standby saver which allows you to turn all your appliances off standby in one go, saving you time and money.
